FHM’s 100 Greatest Games of All Time

Quake

Year: 1996
Platform: PC

Why it’s a classic: While the single-player campaign was essentially a nicer-looking Doom, it was online that id Software’s iconic shooter caused the biggest stir. So much so that hundreds of gamers still turn up to QuakeCon every year to duke it out. Instead of having sex with girls, presumably.

Best bit: AI wasn’t so hot back in the nineties, adding to the hilarity of launching a grenade into an unsuspecting grunt’s hapless face.
