FHM’s 100 Greatest Games of All Time

Posted by , 17 June 2009

Splinter Cell

Year: 2002
Platform: Xbox, PS2, GameCube

Why it's a classic: Before Sam Fisher turned up in his night vision goggles and black unitard, secret agent games could usually be beaten with the “shoot absolutely everything until it dies” technique. Ubisoft's third-person stealth-'em-up changed all that, pitting advanced enemy AI against an arsenal of surveillance gadgets and silent combat.

Best bit: Taking an enemy guard hostage and reassuring him that everything’s going to be just fine. Then snapping his neck.
