FHM’s 100 Greatest Games of All Time

Posted by , 17 June 2009

Super Mario Bros. 3

Year: 1993
Platform: NES

Why it’s a classic: Who says games have to make sense to be great? Here, you play a mustachioed Italian plumber who turns into a flying raccoon when he picks up a leaf. It’s the second biggest selling NES game in history, largely thanks to the memorable Bowser showdown finale and stacks of secret areas.

Best bit: The pre-Bowser airship levels. Frustrating. Infuriating. Yet, somehow, impossibly addictive.
