FHM’s 100 Greatest Games of All Time

Posted by , 17 June 2009

Super Mario Kart

Year: 1992
Platform: SNES

Why it’s a classic: Bettered only by its own successors, the fact that we’d still rather play this 16-bit legend over virtually any other racing game is testament to its sheer addictive endurance. Spot-on controls, perfectly designed courses and grin-inducing power-ups combine to create a perfectly executed piece of gaming history.

Best bit: Getting a mate round, plugging in a second controller, then finally looking up weeks later, realising you’ve missed a doctor’s appointment, your sister’s birthday and two weddings. One of them your own.
