Back in the autumn, we invited budding stand-up comedians to brave public humiliation and rotten vegetables for the chance to win £5000 and national TV fame. We wanted our readers to experience the kind of life-enhancing buzz that you only thought possible for the likes of Chris Rock, Eddie Izzard, Michael McIntyre, Ross Noble and, er, Jimmy Tarbuck.
We called it FHM’s Stand-Up Hero, and enlisted top comedian Ed Byrne to front a series of videos telling you how to be funny. We dangled the opportunity to tour at comedy club chain Jongleurs and warned you that if you were any good, you’d end up on TV.
Here’s what happened. The videos below, all ‘audition level’, got the ball rolling…
Adnan Ahmed, 28
Stephan Gaysteyger, 31
Jim Campbell, 27
Danny O’Brien, 26
George Cleary, 42
Not bad, eh? Not the arena-filling heavyweights they might yet turn out to be, but they're doing alright. Keep an eye on FHM.com for story of how the competition progressed...
