It was, admittedly, 1992, and the few people with mobile phones were military or millionaires, but the idea of a cell that you could only use if you were within spitting distance of a base-station (12,000 were put in shops, garages etc), was fatally flawed. With potential customers realizing that there was as good a chance of being near a public phone as a Rabbit base-station, a mere 10,000 suckers signed up.

I have a hazy recollection of the rabbit phone. The early 90's I was still developing my work hard, play harder lifestyle - but I vaguely remember it.
