Throughout the 70s, the ubiquitous DC-10 quickly gathered a reputation as a dangerous aircraft thanks to cargo doors which had a tendency to blow out. To date there have been more than 1,200 fatalities from DC-10 disasters, which may explain why they stopped making it. But many still fly.
