Ten cinematic Nazis who brim with pure evil

Derek Vinyard in American History X

Which Nazi? Ed Norton plays Derek Vinyard, a stacked neo-Nazi with a massive swastika tattooed on his chest. As you do. He’s a savage, and gets jailed for murdering a black dude in a racially motivated attack.

Why’s he evil? Vinyard lives for hate and makes no secret of it. Not to his girlfriend, his pals, his family and, tragically, his younger brother. But then, he’s released from the can a changed man after being buggered by some other Nazis in the shower and tries to mend his ways. Violent racism is fine, see, but buggery is a definite no no.

When and where? Filmed in 1998 and based in Venice Beach, California, it’s another take on modern Nazism. Which, by the way, is plentiful. Buy American History X from HMV.

Key quote: ”One in every three black males is in some phase of the correctional system. Is that a coincidence or do these people have, you know, like a racial commitment to crime?”
