Slumdog Millionaire

What’s it about? Skint teenager Jamal bags the jackpot on the Hindi version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and is promptly accused of cheating. Directed by Danny ‘Trainspotting’ Boyle, the film tells the story of Jamal’s life in flashback, based around the moments he learned the answers to the game’s questions. Sounds wank, but as four Golden Globe nominations will testify, it isn’t.

Hottest star? Nobody you’ll recognise, as Boyle has purposely steered away from big-name stars. Including, thankfully, Chris Tarrant.
