The movie business is up against it. In an age where Chinese men wait on every street corner with an Asda bag-full of questionably laminated DVD inserts, Hollywood seriously needs to up its game. And in a thinly-veiled attempt to squeeze ticket fares out of credit-crunched punters, 2009’s cinematic line-up is the best we’ve seen in years. The budgets are bigger, the girls are hotter and a Sex And The City follow-up is mercifully nowhere to be seen.

So whip out whatever passes for your diary and mark the following dates down in red, (use your own blood if necessary) for these are the ten hottest big-screen releases of the next twelve months. And even your friendly neighbourhood disc-hawker would agree.

everything apart from star trek, slumdog and bruno almost the worst comedy of 2009 dissapointed because sacha baren cohen is normally pretty hilarious

I agree with 8 out of the 10. Personally, Slumdog and Bruno don't float my boat. The others are a good bit of escapism which is what the cinema is all about.
