The London Astoria’s ten best gigs

Posted by , 20 January 2009

When? 1994.

Why was it good? Played just before Definitely Maybe came out; this gig was pretty much the last time that no one knew who the Gallagher brothers were. They were just lairy Mancunians with baggy clothes, good shoes and potential stadium-filling anthems. A year on, they’d be flicking the V’s at your Mum, spitting on your stage, fighting your Dad because he wanted a picture taken with them and releasing the 3rd biggest selling album in UK chart history. Then their hair got long, they started wearing shades indoors and pumping out pants albums. They would rarely sound as relevant, ever again.
