The London Astoria’s ten best gigs

U2

When? 2001.

Why was it good? Because U2 are a world-conquering, Pope-meeting, Africa-saving, Geldof-loving, pleb-baiting, world-saving, hat-wearing, sunglasses-obsessing, millionaire mega-band, and in 2001 they played the smallest gig they’d played in London for 10 years at the Astoria. Afterwards, Bono said it was U2’s reapplication for "job of best band in the world". Everyone else just nodded and shrugged, and wondered to themselves who it is, exactly, that buys their records. Good gig though.
