Knives at the ready! These manly sandwiches - MAN-wiches, if you will - are the future of scoffing. Not available in shops - only in your kitchen...

THE ULTIMATE BEEF

You'll need:

Sliced silverside beef, gherkins, chopped dill, lettuce, Edam cheese slices, wholegrain mustard, mayonaise, tomato, wholegrain or oatmeal bread.

FHM tip:

Mix the gherkins, mustard, dill and mayonnaise in a bowl for the ultimate beef-sarnie condiment. Prepare to have your tongue royally humped by deliciousness.

THE NEW LUTHER

You’ll need:

Fried chicken, applewood-smoked bacon, bagel, tomato ketchup.

FHM tip:

At ChurchKey, the Washington DC restaurant that invented The New Luther, this heart-stopping (literally) monster of a sarnie doesn’t appear on the menu – you must request it, and you can only do so on Sundays. Probably for the best.

LASAGNE & EGG

You’ll need:

A fried egg, readymade/leftover lasagne, one large doughy bap.

FHM tip:

Pretty self-explanatory, this one. Best eaten five-times over the drink-drive limit, spilling most of it all down your staggering legs.

TURKEY AND HONEY MAYO

You’ll need:

Turkey burger, grated cheddar, pico de gallo topping (diced fresh tomatoes, diced red onion, hot sauce), honey jalapeño mayonnaise (mayonnaise, chopped chilis, chopped jalapeno, honey, black pepper), a large soft bap.

FHM tip:

Pile on the hot sauce and chillis according to taste.

CHRISTMAS LEFTOVERS CROISSANT

You’ll need:

Turkey, mayonnaise, cheese (any cheese, any cheese at all), croissant.

FHM tip:

If you’re a candy-guzzlin’, gun-totin’, yee-hawin’ Yankeedoodle type, this is known as a Thanksgiving Leftovers Croissant.

POUTINE & STEAK WRAP

You’ll need:

Chips, chicken or veal gravy, Lancashire cheese, grilled minute steak, a wrap.

FHM tip:

Poutine (chips + gravy + cheese curds) is a classic Montreal dish, beloved of the drunk and the hungover alike.

GRILLED CHEESE ’N’ ONION RINGS

You’ll need:

Cheese slices, butter, onion rings, white bread.

FHM tip:

Place a slice of bread, buttered-side down, in a pan; add the cheese and onion rings; add another slice of bread. Grill both sides of the sandwich.

STRAWBERRY ’N’ BANANA ’N’ PEANUT BUTTER

You’ll need:

Banana (thinly sliced), strawberries (thinly sliced), Nutella, peanut butter, butter, Warburtons raisin loaf with cinnamon.

FHM tip:

Grill this in a pan, in the same manner as the grilled-cheese-and-onion-rings effort above (i.e. butter on the outside).

GRILLED CHEESE DOUGHNUT

You’ll need:

A ring doughnut, a slice of Edam or processed cheese.

FHM tip:

Pan-fry both sides of the doughnut in a tiny amount of butter, till the cheese melts. If you hate it, try it again. Now d’you love it? Thought so.

PINEAPPLE CHICKEN

You’ll need:

Chicken breast, pineapple ring, mayonnaise, walnuts, lettuce, tomato, white bap.

FHM tip:

As well as the chicken, also grill the pineapple ring – a bit of charring on the pineapple gives it a caramel-y twang. Yes boss.

SHRIMP SALAD & MELTED CHEESE

You’ll need:

Prawn cocktail (readymade is fine), processed-cheese slice, English muffin.

FHM tip:

Quickly melt the cheese under the grill, then om nom nom like a muhfucker.

EGGS BENEDICT & GUACAMOLE

You’ll need:

Egg, guacamole, tomato, hollandaise sauce, English muffin.

FHM tip:

You might wanna get hold of some egg-frying rings, to get those beauties perfectly circular, inna McMuffin-stylee. Two for four quid on Amazon, guv’nor.

COOKIES ’N’ ICE CREAM

You’ll need:

Large, freshly-baked double-choc cookies, mint-choc chip ice-cream.

FHM tip:

Unless you’re some kind of ice-cream scooping genius, you’ll probably need to ‘finish the edges off’ with your finger. Don’t be shy – get that digit in there.

CHICKEN KATSU

You’ll need:

Chicken katsu (breaded chicken), mustard mayonnaise, tonkatsu sauce, shredded lettuce, soft white bread (recipe courtesy of tsuru.com).

FHM tip:

Tonkatsu is a sweet, spicy, thickish sauce made with ginger, sake and Worcestershire sauce. You can buy it at japanesekitchen.co.uk.
