Seeing a band like the Foo Fighters at a venue like Camden Roundhouse is akin to playing Wembley Doubles in your back garden with Lionel Messi as your partner. No disrespect to the Roundhouse – it’s one of our favourite venues – but Dave Grohl and co are used to rocking sold out arenas rather than comparatively intimate gigs to 2,000 lucky competition winners.

But that’s exactly what they did, in what many considered the unofficial headline gig of this year’s iTunes Festival. And, despite the smaller venue, the Foos pulled out all the stops, playing as many hits as they could squeeze in to their set and bringing a few special guests to make it a night to remember.

Motorhead’s Lemmy popped up alongside Grohl for a rendition of Shake Your Blood, shortly before the Foos were joined by Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor for a raucous version of To Play Your Mother Down. Grohl reclaimed centre stage for the final song, Everlong, and left every other iTunes act wondering how the hell they’re going to follow that.
