See behind the scenes at FHM in ITV2 show The Exclusives

It’s not easy getting a job nowadays. You used to be able to just pop your CV in the post and then go for an interview with a man in a grey suit. Not anymore.

Seven weeks of televised one-upmanship is what it takes to get a job in the fast-paced, competitive world of magazine publishing, as the six rookies vying for a job on new ITV2 series The Exclusives find out tonight.

The young job seekers are given incredible backstage access to some of the most high-profile and glamorous events of the year, and have to work their journalistic nipples off to cover them.

Their challenges include interviewing celebrities, organising photo shoots, and generally doing their best to impress the panel of experienced magazine editors that stands between them and their dream job.

Coaching the hopefuls along their “journey” is a group of experienced mentors, from heat and more! magazines, as well as FHM’s very own deputy editor Dan Jude.

The six rookies, whittled down from over 5,000 applicants, are set challenges across Bauer Media titles including Empire, Kerrang! and, you guessed it, FHM.

For the winner, a career in journalism. For the rest, a host of tell-all interviews in OK! magazine, several stints in rehab, and a well-publicised but ultimately heart-breaking relationship with Katie Price (ahead of the release of her 11th autobiography).

The show provides a fly-on-the-wall account of what it really takes to create the most exciting magazines on the newsstand, and is bloody entertaining to boot.

The Exclusives starts tonight, May 17, at 9pm on ITV2
