Swedish House Mafia - July 21

Swedish House Mafia - July 21

Words: Sophie Stroud

The Roundhouse was abuzz as the Swedish House Mafia 'brought the funk' with their unapologetic brand of upbeat housey hits. Known for their club tunes, most notably the collaboration with Tinie Tempah on Miama 2 Ibiza, we expected some hardcore ravers throwing some LARGE shapes, and weren’t disappointed. The crowd body-popped and dropped shoulders to every beat brought by DJs Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastien Ingrosso.

In addition to funky remixes of their existing hits, SHM unleashed remixes to indie classics such as R.E.M.’s Losing My Religion and Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) by the Eurythmics.

At one point, we even had a little dance. We couldn’t help ourselves. Then we realized we’d spilt half our drink. We hate drink-wasters, so we reverted back to the trusty ‘head-bob heel-tap’ combo which has seen us well all these years.
