A cheeky little steal here - The Kinks had only had this out for four years before The Doors crept up and snatched the famous riff from right under their noses.

The Kinks’ managers were apparently quite keen to sue, but it appears that the band were just content with The Doors’ frontman Jim Morrison owning up to using it. Once he had, it was all settled. How civilised. Joe Satriani and Coldplay take note…
