It’s shaping up to be quite a good week for the sport of Mixed Martial Arts. A few days ago, we learned that Katie Price and part-time cage fighter husband Alex Reid’s fairytale romance had come to an untimely end, and therefore restored some of the sport's credibility in Britain. Phew.

Alongside this, one of the most anticipated fights of recent memory takes place on Saturday, with UFC Middleweight champ Anderson Silva taking on Vitor Belfort in the main event of UFC 126, aaaaand just when you thought things couldn’t get any better, one of Britain’s top MMA promotions, Ultimate Challenge, returns for its 18th outing just hours before, with Welterweight contender and conqueror of Reid on Season 9 of The Ultimate Fighter, Dean Amasinger taking on champion John McGuire .

We didn't know The Incredible Hulk had taken up MMA. Oh actually it's just Dean Amasinger.

The promotion, started by Cage Rage founder Dave O’Donnell, has gone from strength to strength since it was started way back in 2008, and has gained a number of followers thanks to a primetime spot on Sky Sports.

This weekend’s event promises to be one of the most exciting Ultimate Challenge events to date, with a number of intriguing fights scheduled to take place, including two intriguing title bouts, which promise fireworks.

Ultimate Challenge 18: ‘Face Off’ takes place at the Troxy in Shadwell, London. Tickets start at £25. If you can’t catch the event live, look out for it on Sky Sports on Wednesday 9 at 10pm.
