If you're after a holiday with a difference, we recommend getting a bunch of mates together and hitting up Morzine this summer. Known for being the birthplace of snowboarding (so you know the bar scene is going to be good) the French Alpine town also functions as a mecca for mountain bike nuts throughout the summer.
In fact Morzine is slap bang in the middle of the world’s biggest mountain bike area: the Portes du Soleil. It's got 12 linked resorts, 650 kilometres of signposted bike paths; five bike parks; dozens of downhill runs; trial circuits and biker cross. So regardless of how advanced you are there'll be a load of hills and tracks for you to hurtle down in (relative) safety.
Accommodation - courtesy of rudechalets - is not too shabby either. Chalets are kitted out with XBOX 360s, table football, wide screen TVs in the lounge area, free wifi, BBQs on the terraces and either a hot tub or sauna. Basically you're not ever going to want to leave.
The resort is open from June 15 to September 8 but you might want to book now to avoid the chalets selling out. Prices start from £900 for a week (but you can get 14 people into one chalet so if you break it down it's not that much) and includes all bed linen, towels and a cleaning service at the end of your stay.
