Forget that kind-of nice weather last week – it’s officially autumn, it’s officially freezing, and you need some advice on how to wrap up and still look stylish.

We’ve been looking at the latest shoot from Duffer of St George and think their autumn collection is great to address some style for the colder weather. Here’s what you need to know, with some help from Calum McNab, British actor and clothes-wearing aficionado.

Layering – get it right and you’ll look the business; get it wrong and you’ll look like the Michelin man. A gilet is a great way to keep the cold out without chucking on a massive coat – this one has a faint check pattern and a detachable hood. Try it over a wooly jumper or a flannel shirt.

Fisherman chic – taking inspiration from the stylish and hard-working fishermen in the world, autumn’s a great time to get a cagoule. You have plenty of time to bust out a big wooly coat in December when an inevitable apocalyptic snow storm threatens us all. In the mean time, these sturdier cotton jackets have big pockets and look great with boots and a stripy top.

Chinos – In a recent poll we put together, over 100% of people have a pair of chinos now. Okay, we might have miscalculated, but the point is these definitely deserve a place in your wardrobe. They’re basically comfier jeans, what’s not to like!? These sandy coloured ones will look great with navy, grey, black or white – just keep away from other shades of brown.
