We’re in the midst of Movember and if you’re anything like us, you’ll be just about starting to sprout a manly moustachio. Now all you need to do is take it up a notch by shaving like a real man. Shaving experts The Bluebeards Revenge explain how to do it proper…
1. Soften up
Have a shower or use a hot flannel to soften the bristles and open up the pores.
2. Get lathered
Massage shaving cream thoroughly into your stubble. Make sure the lather doesn’t dry.
3. Get a grip
Your thumb should be on the underside of the razor, with your index, middle and ring fingers on the top. The handle should be between your ring and little finger, which rests on the crescent.
With your other hand, stretch the skin as tight as you can. To start, lie the blade flat against your cheek, then lift the spine to 30 degrees. Use very little pressure and apply even strokes in the direction of the hair growth.
After the first shave, rinse, relather and shave again. This time, go against the direction of growth.
6. And rinse
When you’ve finished shaving, rinse with warm water, then follow up with a cool water rinse to close the pores.
