You know all those terrible stories about bad teachers behaving badly with underage students? Well, we may have just topped all of them with this story, because it's pretty unbelievable.
It comes from Mount Shasta High School in California, where a 42-year-old woman named Mary Frances Fletcher is accused of having sex with not one... not two... but three teenage football players.
According to the New York Post, Fletcher was arrested the other day on charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with the minors, initially meeting the players with a team photographer.
“It was kind of a chance encounter and she evidently developed a relationship with the boys at a later time,” Siskiyou County Sheriff Jon Lopey said, adding that there’s no evidence the alleged sexual contact occurred on school grounds or involved school employees.
“We have small-knit communities here in Siskiyou County and we have good schools and pretty good kids, so it’s pretty unusual for students to be exploited like this,” Lopey told The Post. “This is a relatively rare offense that occurs. It’s very alarming, it’s something that’s very shocking to the senses and it certainly disturbs the entire community.”
An investigation opened against Mary Frances Fletcher after a complaint to the local police department last September, with detectives discovering the alleged sexual encounters occurring in different parts around the county.
Lopey also added that, based off of current details, that this case was one of the most "unusual" he's ever seen during his 39-year law enforcement career.
Fletcher has been released after posting $10,000 bail, and is due in court on March 22.
