I'm going to admit that, prior to today, I had no idea who Abi Clarke was. However, after hearing the news that she's rumored to be dating undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. — with the two even going on "secret" dates in order to try and stay hush hush about their relationship — I immediately had to dig up some more info on the brunette beauty. After all, Floyd is a bajillionaire boxer who is one of the most polarizing sports figures on the planet, so anyone of the opposite sex he's spotted with will grab headlines.
And, in this case, it's Abi Clarke, who's best-known from her reality TV days on the British show The Only Way Is Essex, which chronicles the lives of fast-living, hard partying people from Essex.
So, how did Abi and Floyd Mayweather Jr. meet? Funny you should ask, because, according to The Sun, the two first crossed paths in Las Vegas last summer while Clarke was on vacation with some of her lady friends. Since then, reports say Abi Clarke and Mayweather have been going on secret dates for over a year.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. — who's currently parading around the globe with competitor Conor McGregor as they promote their highly-anticipated boxing event on August 26 — may like to run his mouth and showboat, but, according to a source talking to The Sun, it was both his sense of humor and generosity that Abi Clarke fell hard for.
An insider told The Sun’s Bizarre column: “Abi and Floyd really hit it off and she was blown away by his sense of humor and generosity. She was in a fragile and vulnerable place and Floyd has made her feel confident again."
“Although she knew about his reputation as a party animal, she’s been pleasantly surprised and discovered he’s actually a really lovely guy."
“He made sure they were friends first, before trying to take it further. He’s really helped mend her broken heart and heal her scars.”
Last year, Clarke was trying to get over her ex, soccer player Rob Davies, so Floyd swooped in at the right time.
Now, it sound as if Abi Clarke will be ringside to support Floyd Mayweather Jr. during his big fight with McGregor, cheering on her new man as he tries to keep his unblemished boxing record intact against the UFC superstar.
