AnnaLynne McCord Talks 'Lets Get Physical' And Reveals The Grueling Workout She Did For The Show

Guys know the gorgeous and talented AnnaLynne McCord from her roles on TV shows like 90210 and Nip/Tuck, but the 30-year-old actress is set to star in a new series entitled Let's Get Physical — and the effort it took to get in shape for the role was grueling as hell! How do we know? Well, rather than try it ourselves, we recently chatted with AnnaLynne McCord to describe some details about her character in the show, Claudia Cross, as well as talk about some of the things she put her body through in order to prep for the show.

Let's Get Physical follows a middle-aged slacker named Joe — played by Matt Jones from Breaking Bad — who makes a super reluctant comeback into the fitness industry after his dad unexpectedly dies. Enter AnnaLynne McCord, whose Claudia Cross is the high school sweetheart of Joe's, but is married to the guy's arch nemesis and rival gym owner. The show premieres on January 24 on Pop, starting at 8:30p EST, but here's an exclusive trailer that we got hooked up with, so check it out!

As for AnnaLynne McCord, well, in addition to talking about the intensity of her workout — along with some other fitness tips — she told us about her least favorite workout and if it's ever OK for a guy to hit on a lady at the gym. Keep on reading to see her thoughts.

FHM: You've Got A New Show Coming Out Soon, "Let's Get Physical," Can You Tell Us Some Details About It/Your Character?

AnnaLynne McCord: "My character’s name is Claudia Cross. She is a fitness queen, techie gadget girl and co-owner of Metrix Gym. Her gym likes to eat little Mom’n’Pop gyms like her rival, Fitness by Force, for lunch. She also happens to have dated its owner, Joe Force, and is currently married to her Metrix co-owner, Barry Cross. She uses her love triangle to her advantage as she masterminds a way to always come out on top no matter whom the casualties of rivalry war happen to be."

FHM: I Mean, The Name Says It All: Was The Role Physically Demanding?

AnnaLynne McCord: "As mentioned, Claudia really is a little puppeteer. She fancies working behind-the-scenes, where she can manipulate the dynamics much easier. However, I did have to perform Claudia’s “Rage Cycle,” which consists of extremely aggressive personal rage that's taken out on spin cycle machines. I literally thought I was going to pass out after the 20th take. I don’t know how people do that for an hour straight."

FHM: What Fitness Tips Would You Give Readers?

AnnaLynne McCord: "Working out is, um, important (laughs)! So, I have to admit, I’m not the best at the whole 'go-to-the-gym fitness routine,' but if you’re like me, and the gym is not your thing, there are definitely other forms of cardio. I do Tae Kwon Do, which I really enjoy; mostly because I like kicking and punching things. My favorite form of cardio tends to involve a partner and typically occurs behind closed bedroom doors. A lot of squats may be involved." (wink wink)

FHM: Any Foods You Had To Stay Away From To Prep For The Role?

AnnaLynne McCord: "I probably should have stayed away from certain foods, but I don’t think our friends at the “crafty” snacks table got the memo that we were doing a ‘fitness’ show. Basically, the daily options were Cheetos, doughnut dots and day-old cookies. I just pretty much had to avoid that table altogether."

FHM: What's The One Workout You Legit Hate Doing, But Still Do Because You Know It's Effective?

AnnaLynne McCord: "I’m not gonna lie, I love a good twerkable (not sure that’s a word) bum. But, my god, I hate, hate, hate the jumping and criss-cross squats that are required. I have this five-minute buns and thighs workout from YouTube that really works, but all I can say is ouch!!"

FHM: Is There Any Time When It's OK For A Guy To Hit On A Lady At The Gym?

AnnaLynne McCord: "OK, so I’m one of those women who actually appreciates a man who will make the first move and come up to a woman (maybe not during ‘Downward Dog,’ but I’m from the south, I appreciate it). It’s just important that they take the hint if the woman says that she’s not interested or has a boyfriend. So ask away gentlemen!"
