Netflix announced today that the critically acclaimed, techo-paranoia series, Black Mirror is being renewed for a fifth season! While details at this time are scarce, it's safe to say that, "The future will be brighter than ever", as per the tagline in the teaser-trailer uploaded to Black Mirror's official Twitter page today. For those of you who have yet to finish the fourth season, released on December 29, 2017, beware of spoilers ahead.
It was clear in season four that the show's creator, Charlie Booker was taking more creative risks with the series than ever before. The season finale, "Black Museum", being a prime example. Black Mirror is widely-revered for being a show that bares little-to-no repetition in either plot or cast. Of course, there are those Easter eggs tying certain episodes together — like the song, "Anyone Who Knows What Love Is (Will Understand)" — but, as a rule, each episode stands alone. With "Black Museum" the show became very self-aware, tying in many of the episodes seen in previous seasons.

It forces viewers to question whether Booker will continue on that path in the coming season 5 or maintain that distinct Black Mirror style we have all come to know and love. As of now, no plot details have been released. The same goes for casting and release date. Given the teaser dropping today, it's safe to say that we will see season 5 in late 2018.
It would just be cruel to make audiences wait until 2019, like every other freakin' series on the block. Additionally, if season five follows the same episode pattern, we should expect 6-7 episodes. We will be sure to keep y'all posted on any further updates! In the mean-time, go ahead and keep binge-watching.
