It has been awhile since we last saw Chanel West Coast, the funny gal who is best-known for her role on the MTV show Ridiculousness, which breaks down some of the most hilarious viral videos from around the Internet. But, that's not all Chanel's got going on, because, as we've seen, the blonde babe has a budding music career, too!
With a new EP coming out this spring after recently releasing a few new music videos, “Nobody”, “Flex on a Bih” with BPace and “New Bae", Chanel West Coast is finding herself in the epicenter of the music scene as festival season approaches. And, with the 10th season of MTV’s Ridiculousness currently airing right now, the gal has plenty of stuff going on.
Lucky for us, Chanel found time to come by our office to spill some, well, ridiculous stories about her life, as well as talk about her new music. Nothing seemed to be off-limits with her, so, yeah, it was a pretty ridiculousness time with her — see what we did there?
FHM: You've Mentioned That "Nobody" Is About, "Being An Individual And Doing What You Like No Matter What People Think," Why's That Message So Important?
Chanel West Coast: "I feel that message is so important because, these days, society and/or social media makes us feel like we need to act or look a certain way to be considered a model citizen. I feel like the only way to truly live a happy life is to be 100 percent comfortable in your own skin; acting, dressing and speaking the way you want to. Being an individual with own ideas is a much more rewarding feeling than being a follower and doing the same thing as everyone else. We should be proud to be who we are, and anyone who doesn't like you that way doesn't matter."
FHM: Let's Face It, You Kinda Live That Way All The Time, Huh?
Chanel West Coast: "Oh, yeah! 24-7!"
FHM: Not Long Ago, You Opened For Machine Gun Kelly & Cardi B, What Was That Like?
Chanel West Coast: "It was dope! They are two artists who I admire very much, so it was great to be performing on the same stage as them. Plus, the show went really well, too!"
FHM: Think Your Dream Collab, Drake, Can Be Next?
Chanel West Coast: "Fingers crossed." (laughs)
FHM: What Do You Have Coming Up This Summer? Any Other Music Festivals Or Shows To Look For?
Chanel West Coast: "I’m always doing shows nonstop. It's been hard to to do a full tour with all the different TV things that I was filming over the past year, but I’m constantly doing one-off shows all around the country/world. Follow me to see when I'm in your city next!"
FHM: In Your Opinion, What's Better, Entertaining People On TV Or Through Your Music?
Chanel West Coast: "I’ve done music my whole life and I’ve always felt really comfortable on stage performing. Being on stage for Ridiculousness in front of a live audience was actually terrifying to me at first. I just felt so awkward sitting there talking with all those people. To me, performing in front of thousands of people is much easier because I’m doing something more natural for me that I’ve done since childhood. Music has always been where I’m most comfortable and the most me!"
FHM: Lastly, Any Ridiculous Stories From The Studio That You Can Share? Don't Be Bashful, We've Got A Hunch There Are A Few.
Chanel West Coast: "Man, I’ve had a lot of crazy studio stories! It’s really hard to give you just one. Let’s just say I turn the studio into a party a lot of the time..."
