So far in the past week or so, we've reported on Emma Watson, Amanda Seyfried, Jillian Murphy, and WWE's Paige all being subjected to vicious hacking and having explicit photos, videos, or both released to the dark net.
According to Motherboard the hackers have come forward:
'The hackers, who identified themselves as 'Turkish Crime Family', demanded $75,000 in Bitcoin or Ethereum, another increasingly popular crypto-currency, or $100,000 worth of iTunes gift cards in exchange for deleting the alleged cache of data."
It gets a bit more intense when the hackers begin to detail just how much they have complete access to:
"According to one of the emails in the accessed account, the hackers claim to have access to over 300 million Apple email accounts, including those use @icloud and @me domains. However, the hackers appear to be inconsistent in their story; one of the hackers then claimed they had 559 million accounts in all. The hackers did not provide Motherboard with any of the supposedly stolen iCloud accounts to verify this claim, except those shown in the video."
Inconsistent or not, either of those numbers being true is alarming and it doesn't seem it's going to stop anytime soon. The Hacker News Reports:
"According to a screenshot from an original 4chan thread, unknown hackers will be posting more intimate photos of female celebrities, including Kylie Jenner, Marisa Tomei, Jennifer Lawrence and several others, over the next few days, which indicates it's just the beginning of The Fappening 2.0."
We're just happy that for now Lovato has been the first in the round of women to come forward and she's taking it all in stride:
I love how everyone's freaking out about one picture. It's not nude and it's just cleavage 😂— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) March 22, 2017
