When we first came across the knowledge that Dr. Pimple Popper (Sandra Lee) doesn't like watching most pimple popping videos a couple of the things came to mind. The first being The Notorious B.I.G. lyric in "Ten Crack Commandments" — "Number 4, I know you heard this before, never get high on your own supply." Seeing as pimple popping videos have become the crack-cocaine of the internet, the parallel seemed obvious. If we're being honest here, our second thought was just a good old fashioned, WTF, lady?!
How is it that someone who spends her days extracting blackheads, removing lipomas, and digging up dead keratin from the depths of people's pores could have an aversion to watching the very videos she creates. It's a real head-scratcher, y'all. In a YouTube video posted earlier in the week, Sandra Lee confessed:
"I'm not a true popaholic. Every time there's a big popping video on the internet, I seem to get a flood of texts or messages or tags, and I will tell you a little secret: I don't watch those videos. I can't. It bothers me [...] Maybe it has something to do with control [...] I know when I'm doing a surgery that I'm under control and that the person is safe and I know everything is going well. I think that's part of it — I don't know. Either that or I guess I'm just into my own pimple popping."
To be fair, her explanation is pretty sound. It's not that she doesn't like pimple popping videos, she just prefers her own. We can definitely apply that logic to a larger scale — plenty of people enjoy popping their own pimples, but wouldn't exactly jump for joy at the idea of popping someone else's pimples. Alright, Sandra Lee, makes sense, you've been excused.
