When it comes to losing your virginity, The Rock's story definitely tops the charts as THE MOST traumatizing thing that can happen to a couple of kids.
That said (candidly speaking) I happen to think that society places waaaayyyyy too much pressure on the idea of virginity. While I agree that it should be special, I don't believe that teens, girls in particular, should attach their value, worth, or purity to it!
Sex is sex, and it's gonna happen for most people at some point or another. No need to beat yourself up over it if doesn't go exactly as planned the first time around. If anything, The Rock's tragic tale is a perfect testament to this fact. He completely botched the losing of his virginity and he turned out fine!! Hell, he turned out better than fine! That man has remained a Hollywood heavy-hitter for like 7845678998765 years with no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
In an interview with Elle, The Rock got pretty candid in how he lost his most sacred virtue and I've gotta say it's pretty damn funny. Tragic, to be sure, but funny—
Speaking of sexiness, tell me about losing your virginity. Would you have done anything differently?
"Um…I wouldn't have been so good at it? I mean, where do you go after that.… [Laughs] That's the A side to the answer. Now the B side to that is—I would not have been in a park. I would have preferred not to have been caught by the cops."
That really happened?
"Yes, my friend. We shouldn't have been in the park in the first place. All of a sudden, a big spotlight came on us. Bang. You hear the cop roll down the window and say, "Ma'am, are you okay? Will you come to the car?" She gets dressed, comes to the car. They say, "Are you being attacked?" She says, "No, that's my boyfriend." It was a complete nightmare. [Laughs] Some stories are beautiful, but mine was not."
See what I mean? Funny stuff! I'm glad he bounced back and is able to laugh at it now. Perhaps it's easier to cope with given his current lifestyle—
Not a bad life, that's for sure!
