Before we dive into our praise of Emma Stone, I just want to say that yesterday was the 10th anniversary of Superbad — the very first movie I ever saw Emma in! She played Jules, she was hilarious, and I knew right then and there that she would go on to be one of those Hollywood rarities who has that intangible spark in their ability to make any role they play, their own.
Of course, she proved me right — going on to absolutely kill it in roles in The Help, Easy A, Crazy, Stupid, Love, The Amazing Spider-Man, and of course, critically acclaimed film and 6 times Oscar winner — La La Land. One of those Oscars was Emma's for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role, no surprise there.
Hm, I guess that was praising Emma, huh? I tried my best to hold off but with beauty, brains, and talent like that — it sure is hard. Turns out, Hollywood agrees as Emma Stone was just named The World's Highest-Paid Actress. To be fair, there are 9 other uh-mazing ladies on this list we'd like to recognize as well! Gotta give credit where credit is due, my friends.
Wait, what? Emma Stone has pulled in $26 million this year? I mean, La La Land was good and all, but, wow, that's pretty amazing. Added Forbes:
"At just 28 years old, the Hollywood star (Emma Stone) is this year's highest-paid actress, banking $26 million pretax in our 12 month scoring period. Stone has her earnings from the movie-musical to thank for the bulk of her payday, which also won her a Best Actress Oscar. Her portrayal of Mia, an aspiring actress and barista, garnered rave reviews and goosed the film to $445.3 million at the global box office."
So, who else fell in the top-10? Here are the talented ladies who are earning so much money for their acting skills:
- 10. Amy Adams - $11.5M
- 9. Julia Roberts - $12M
- 8. Cate Blanchett - $12M
- 7. Charlize Theron - $14M
- 6. Emma Watson - $14M
- 5. Mila Kunis - $15.5M
- 4. Melissa McCarthy - $18M
- 3. Jennifer Lawrence - $24M
- 2. Jennifer Aniston - $25.5M
- 1. Emma Stone - $26M
Now, I don't know about you, but seeing as how I'll probably never make anything close to what these women have earned this year, it's safe to say I'm more than just a tad jealous. Oh well, guess I should've stuck with Thespian Club in high school, huh? #Regrets.
