A video posted to DBS Designing on YouTube back in June revealed the possible specs and design for the highly-anticipated Google Pixel 2, the follow-up to Google's original Pixel smartphone. At the time, we knew the following as the key points to be focusing on. As per Techradar —
The Google Pixel and Pixel XL were both launched in October 2016, so we’d expect to see the Pixel 2 roughly a year later, in or around October 2017.
The Pixel 2 will apparently carry a loftier price tag than its predecessors —the old one started at $649 (£599, AU$1,079), or $769 (£719, AU$1,269) for the XL version.
The new Pixels will be waterpoof.
There's a third Pixel in the works.
Improved chipset and camera.
No headphone jack.
Fast forward to current day and Google has finally confirmed the release date in their latest advertisement, all of which is centralized on their "Ask More" marketing campaign. According to The Verge—
"The “ask more” instruction appears to tease an evolved and improved Google Assistant, one that presumably does more when you ask it for more. For now, all we have to go on is the teaser video from Google and a litany of leaks detailing the features and looks of the upcoming Pixel 2, made by HTC, and Pixel 2 XL, expected to be manufactured by LG and based on the promising, bezel-deprived V30."
What’s wrong with my phone’s battery?
Why is my phone always out of storage?
Why does my phone take so many blurry photos?
Why doesn’t my phone understand me?
Why can’t my phone update itself?
Why is my smartphone so slow / hot / fragile / annoying / broken / cruel / impersonal / dumb?
I think the ad works successfully on multiple levels, specifically when taking a jab at the current culture of smartphones. I mean, c'mon, "Why is my smartphone so slow / hot / fragile / annoying / broken / cruel / impersonal / dumb?" That sounds like my iPhone every time I put off the freakin' update for too long. We'll have to wait and see but the Pixel 2 sounds like it's going to make some serious waves in the tech community.
