Remember a couple weeks back when we posted about Gordon Hayward's injury? We mean, c'mon, how could you forget?! That sh*t was gruesome AF. For those of you who need a little refresher, no worries. We've got you covered. Gordon landed awkwardly on his leg less than six minutes into his first regular season game with the Boston Celtics, with his left ankle being turned nearly 90 degrees. The injury was sustained as Hayward went up for an attempted alley-oop from his new teammate, Kyrie Irving.
When we say the injury was gruesome, we MEAN gruesome. If you're any kind of squeamish, we highly recommend skipping the video. It's sort of like watching a someone get kicked in the balls, but way, way worse.
If you were able to stomach that video, kudos to you. No matter how many times we watch it, we still feel like vomiting shortly thereafter. It's just one of those things, man. We suspect Hayward's injury will go down as one of the worst the NBA has ever seen. That being said, one man was able to take Gordon's injury and somehow make light of the situation for his Halloween costume.
See, the man in question, Justin Caskey, had lost his leg to cancer and decided to rise above his circumstance with a little sports related humor. Now, we don't want to undermine Hayward's injury in any way, but this costume? IT'S BRILLIANT. We suspect that Gordon himself would even find it in him to let out a little laugh (erm, well, maybe).
Some people have commented that the costume is "in poor taste", but frankly speaking, we think it's pretty darn hilarious and totally well executed. If nothing else, this guy was able to take a bad situation (both his and Haywards) and make the best of it. You know what they say, when life hands you lemons, recreate gnarly sports injuries!
