No matter who you are, everyone probably wonders how to get a better sleep at night. After all, nobody dislikes a good night’s sleep, right? Who wants to wake up all groggy and tired, knowing that their day is going to drag on because the night before was spent tossing and turning?
Fear not, though, because there are plenty of sleeping tips out there that will answer the question of how to get a better sleep — and we've got a few below that will serve you well. We recommend taking notes, because, even if you think you know some of these, you're still doing things wrong, which, in effect, is hurting your sleep cycle.
From getting to bed earlier to avoiding too much food before moving to your bedroom, our pals over at TopMattress.com offer up some sleeping tips that will help you each night. Oh, and remember, don't be that idiot who decides a cup of coffee after dinner is a good idea, because that won't help your cause, pal.
Pay Attention To Lighting
This doesn’t mean you need all the lights turned off. Some people can’t sleep in a pitch-black room! It has nothing to do with being scared (promise), it's just that some aren't in the habit of sleeping in darkness.
So, getting some lava lamps and lamps for dimmed light are an option. They can come in many colors, but to make the room pleasant or even exotic, choose as a dark pink, violet or blue.
More Action In The Bedroom
If you're sharing a bed with someone (yes, couples), sleep gets much better with some nice bedroom activities — if you catch our drift. You will get tired, you will burn some energy and calories and, after all of that, you are already in bed and ready to sleep. Especially if the bed is so comfy, you won’t even leave it to get to the shower!
Don’t worry if you are single, though. That shouldn’t stop you from getting some nice blood flow before bed. Yes, we're talking about pleasing yourselves, fellas. It’s healthy and satisfying and helps the brain rewire during sleep — which can lead to a lot of sleep after all that!
Take A Bath Or Warm Shower
Yeah, you might think this is simple or uncreative, but it actually works really well. In a bath, the whole aroma and scent of the bubbles will make you doze off faster, and the hot water will pamper you. It’s like that amazing feeling when you’re in a Jacuzzi or pool and don’t want to get out.
When you’re on vacation and after a day of swimming and warmness you sleep like a log. This is the same idea, so don't hesitate in doing so on a daily basis more often.
We don’t mean counting sheep before sleep, no. Go to some ‘happy place’. In case you sleep alone and have no chance of getting some pre-sleep activities, then just imagine things. Seriously!
Basically, whatever you want to think of. Whether that’s some fantasy or thinking of some waves crashing into the shore of a beach, it's totally up to you. Sometimes, even thinking of how to improve your career will wire your brain to have nice dreams, leading to a more energetic attitude the next day.
Dive Deep Into Your Mind
Oh, this is a personal favorite. Equip your room with scented candles, scented beads and sticks and scented oils, too. It may sound a bit "out there," but, promise, it's effective. Playing some soft music or even sensual instrumentals can help here as well, or using a white noise machine can make things feel a bit mystic.
All of this will instantly relax you and and get you prepared for bed. But, the best part of all this is diving into consciousness, and seeing and feeling things like never before. Once you hit that feeling, your heart and whole body will be so relaxed that, before you know it, you'll be awakened by the morning light. And that is how to get a better sleep without doing much at all!
