There are plenty of Instagram models out there, but when you talk about a high fashion model who has beauty for days, the name Kira Dikhtyar should come to mind. Sure, the Russian bombshell has more than 162,000 followers on Instagram, but it'd be silly to think she can be figured out by just looking (and liking) at some of her many pictures on there.
No, to really understand who Kira is, you've got to talk with her, hearing how she went from a Russian gymnast who competed in the 1998 Junior Olympic Games, then became a member of the junior Russian National Team. And, how she later went from a competitive athlete to a runway model and an actress.
Kira Dikhtyar is one of those rare talents who, seemingly, can do it all. It's one of the reasons why we just had to get to know her better, asking about her career, getting some thoughts about what men can do to improve their chances with ladies and, because she's pretty funny, a story about calling some dude out on his bullsh-t.
Women like Kira don't come along often, but, when they do, it's cool to see that she's down to earth and easy to chat with. So, without further ado, take a look at what the Russian model had to tell us!
FHM: What’s The Best Thing About Your Home Country, Russia?
Kira Dikhtyar: "Our country is very big, and there are many interesting things over there. I can’t name only one thing, though, as it takes time to discover all of it."
FHM: Why Do You Think Russian Women Are Some Of The Best Models In The World?
Kira Dikhtyar: "Because of their determination, it’s in our blood. We also have the best in sports and science. Plus, Russia is a big country, so you can find an interesting mix of blood, that’s why Russian women are so beautiful."
FHM: Is It True That You're Also A Rhythmic Gymnast And You Competed In The Junior Olympics? What Was That Like?
Kira Dikhtyar: "Yes, it’s true, I was on the Russian Olympic National Team. Competing in the Junior Olympics was very exciting, as you can imagine, but also a lot of pressure."
FHM: That's Pretty Damn Impressive. So, How'd You Then Get Into Modeling?
Kira Dikhtyar: "While I was a gymnast, I had already started posing for magazines. But, when sports were over for me, modeling became my life and my main focus."
FHM: What Are The Best And Worst Things About Being A Model?
Kira Dikhtyar: "The great thing is that you actually get a chance to work with absolutely incredible people, travel all over the world and, of course, it’s a huge pleasure to see the result of your work; the amazing images! The worst part could be that you usually shoot summer collections in winter during the freezing cold, and then winter clothes during the summer. Also, modeling is very hard, physical work. It takes lots of passion and discipline."
FHM: Have You Ever Been Mistaken For Another Famous Woman?
Kira Dikhtyar: "I have a funny story, actually. Two weeks after I gave birth to my son, Alexander, I got back in shape immediately. I was stopping by The Coffee Bean to grab a coffee before going to my agency, and I met a man who asked me, 'are you a model?' I told him I was, and he replied, 'what’s your name?'"
"I told him, 'Kira,' and he says, 'Oh, I know this famous model named Kira from New York, she’s a supermodel, she is very good, but she is pregnant now, has a baby.' I figured out right away that the guy was bullshitting, but I let him keep going. So, this guy was telling me stories for a half hour about how he is best friends with Kira, they party together and al that. After 30 minutes of his fairytales, I finally tell him, 'well, it’s me, I am that Kira!' The guy dropped his coffee... can you imagine his reaction? I still laugh about it to this day."
FHM: That's Pretty Hilarious. Seems Like You've Got A Good Sense Of Humor, Too! Is That Your Best Quality?
Kira Dikhtyar: (laughs) "No, I would probably say it's my no-nonsense and win-win attitude."
FHM: What’s The One Thing You Wish Men Understood About Women?
Kira Dikhtyar: "Honestly, in my opinion, women are meant to be loved, not understood."
FHM: What Do You Do To Relax?
Kira Dikhtyar: "I’m not a very relaxed person, to be very honest. Since I have a lot going on in my life, just give me a good night of sleep and some good wine, and that's enough for me."
