Check Out The ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Trailer And All Things 'Jurassic Park'

By the time it reaches its 25th anniversary next year, the Jurassic Park movies will have surpassed every expectation anyone could have had. The release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (better known by some as Jurassic World 2) will represent the fifth movie in the series, with Chris Pratt — most recently seen in Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol. 2 — returns as dinosaur trainer Owen Grady, with Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing.

Also returning to the franchise is Jeff Goldblum — the Grand Master in Thor: Ragnarok — as mathematician and chaos theorist Ian Malcolm, who previously appeared in 1993’s Jurassic Park and its first sequel, 1997’s The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Behind the scenes, Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow returns as producer and co-writer, with J.A. Bayona taking on directing responsibilities. As usual, Steven Spielberg serves as executive producer.

Not much is known about the plot, although in speaking to EFE Bayona offered, “It will be darker and scarier than the previous film. Obviously when you have Chris Pratt, it will also be very funny. But it will be darker. It is a second step in a trilogy, and the second step is always darker as in The Empire Strikes Back or Star Trek: The Wrath Of Khan, which are the examples you always get.”

This film, he offers, takes the story where it hasn’t gone before. “At the same time,” he says, “we are paying tribute to the franchise. We will take it a step further. There are things that will happen that people are not expecting and they really are shocking.”

When we spoke to Trevorrow regarding Jurassic World, he offered his views on the film that seem pretty applicable to Fallen Kingdom as well. “I felt like there was something to say there," he explained. "Let’s make a movie about how we co-exist with our animals on the planet. How we cage some and we use some for agriculture and for medicine; some for war. There’s a lot of different ways that humans and animals have formed relationships over their history together. Why not throw dinosaurs into the mix and see what happens?”

The following guide to all things Jurassic looks at Fallen Kingdom and back at the previous films, the main characters and the featured dinosaurs.
