Every once in awhile, there are success stories that are hard not to appreciate. This one about a 31-year-old Arizona man named Pasquale “Pat” Brocco is one of them, because the guy completely turned his life around by making a drastic change.
Brocco, who tipped the scales at an absurd 605 pounds just three years ago, was told by his doctor that his high blood pressure and high cholesterol carried serious health risks, potentially leading to an early death. Rather than drown in sorrow and do nothing about it, Brocco immediately made a change.
Walking to and from a Walmart that was one mile away each time he had an urge to eat, Brocco lost 200 pounds in less than two years, and has been able to keep the weight off.
Per ABC News, here's what Brocco said about his insane transformation:
"My stomach was down to my thighs. My chest was hanging down here (pointing to his stomach). I was disgusted. You walk to Walmart three times a day, and you end up walking 6 miles. It’s amazing because I never walked 6 miles in my life, and I was doing it every day.”
As you'd expect, Brocco's diet has changed dramatically, as he favors foods like vegetables, meats, sweet potatoes, quinoa and steel-cut oatmeal rather than the fatty stuff he was eating before. Look at how his diet has changed since his weight loss.
Before weight loss (about 11,200 calories per day)
- Box of cereal
- 1/2 gallon whole milk
- 1 package peanut butter cups
- 1 candy bar
- 12-inch meatball and cheese submarine sandwich
- 100 fast food chicken nuggets
- 1 fast food apple pie
- 1 fast food milkshake
- 2 liters soda
- 4 doughnuts
After weight loss (about 2,250 calories per day)
- 2 gallons water
- About 20 egg whites
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 24 ounces chicken breast
- Green beans
- 6 ounces ground lean bison
- 32 almonds
- 1/2 sweet potato
Now 330 pounds, Pat Brocco is an inspiration to everyone who might be struggling with weight loss, as he overcame a struggle that has rejuvenated and, probably, saved his life.
