Hall of Fame basketball players Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley have been known to have some interesting stories, but the two friends are legends when it comes to gambling, with both notorious when it comes to tossing money around in the heart of competition.
But M.J., who is one of the fiercest and fiery competitors to ever play a sport, took things to the next level while on the golf course with Barkley once, with Sir Charles explaining to Dan Patrick that His Airness once dropped $300,000 on a single putt one time.
To paraphrase Barkley, here's what he said:
"We'd be playing golf with certain people, for a couple hundred dollars a hole, nothing big, and he'd be playing some guy for $100,000," Barkley said of Jordan. "He's like, 'Charles, pick that up.' I'm like, 'This putt is for $200.' He's like, 'Pick that up, Charles, get out of my way, you're in my line.' I'm like, 'How much is that putt for?' He's like, '$300,000.' I said, 'Let me get out of your line.' It was crazy man."
It's crazy enough that the basketball greats were gambling a couple hundred bucks a hole, but, if you want to really feel bad about yourself, how about the fact that Jordan and Barkley were throwing the price of a F'in house down for a putt on the golf course? That's just insanity!
Considering Michael Jordan's net worth is estimated at $1.31 billion by Forbes, what's a mere $300k to the six-time NBA champ, right?
Ah, yes, to have so much money that you literally have to find ways to spend it, must be nice.
