Here's the thing though, you've gotta do your research! Otherwise, you're likely to fall into the trap of sticking to the diet for a week or two and then being completely miserable! That's why when we came across this potato diet, we just had to share it with y'all. Turns out, it actually works! As per News.Com.Au:
"Last year, Andrew Taylor ate nothing but potatoes. The Victorian man told news.com.au in December he embarked on the extreme diet to combat his addiction to food, and he lost 50kg (100 lbs) over 12 months. When he started, he weighed 151.7kg, and he spent his days eating deep-fried food, ice cream, cake, chocolate and pizza."
Andrew went on to explain his struggles with dieting and exercise, a burden many of us share. He began to question his nutritional choices, determined to find the best routine that would not only yield the greatest results, but suit his lifestyle/appetite:
“I had a realisation I was a food addict and it got me thinking about how if you’re an alcoholic you quit alcohol, or a drug addict you quit drugs,' he said. 'You can’t quit food, but I wanted to get as close as possible and wondered if there was one particular food I could eat and potatoes came up best."
We're sure a lot of are you thinking, "WTF, potatoes are bad for you!" Well, as Taylor proved in spades, if eaten correctly potatoes can be an incredible weight loss resource.
Nutritional Benefits Of The Potato Diet
Decrease in sugar levels.
Decrease in blood-pressure.
Amino acids you need to build proteins, repair cells, and fight diseases.
Naturally, a reasonable doctor wouldn't necessarily recommend a diet this restrictive. However, if you do incorporate different potatoes — not just white — it's doable. Journalist Ellen Airhart explains the importance of sweet potatoes/other sorts of spuds:
"Including these orangey ones in the mix — technically, they belong to a different taxonomic family than white potatoes — increases the likelihood that the potato consumer will get their recommended daily dose of Vitamin A, the organic compound in carrots that your mum told you could make you see in the dark, and vitamin E."
Well guys, we'll leave it up to you! We wouldn't blame you for sticking to your fruits, veggies, dairy, and meats but, hey! This doesn't sound too bad either.
