Get ready to feel really disturbed, guys, because the first trailer for Slender Man — a new horror flick that releases on May 18, 2018 — is here. And, as the headline says, the thing will make all those twisted serial killer stories feel just a little creepier.

More than just the Slender Man trailer being a complete mindf*ck, though, is the fact that the whole story is loosely based off of real-life events, no joke. The character of Slender Man was created on a Something Awful forum back in 2009 by Eric Knudsen, and, since then, sort of took on an Internet cult following. But, in 2014, two 12-year-old girls from Wisconsin committed a violent crime on a friend, stabbing her and blaming the whole thing on the Slender Man telling them to do it. So, be careful while watching this thing, it's definitely not for the faint-hearted.

With an interest in true crime stories, even those as gruesome and messed up as the aforementioned Slender Man killings, the big screen was a natural fit for the story to be released. While watching it, the words, "he gets into your mind like a virus," is creepy as hell, making us think that the character is capable of consuming a person's thoughts and manipulate him or her to do things that they wouldn't do otherwise. It makes for an intense first peek into the movie.

For those unfamiliar with the Slender Man phenomenon, a first-person survival video game entitled Slender: The Eight Pages was released in June 2012, which also spawned a cult following and terrified gamers. With the first trailer clearly utilizing the psychological aspect of the character and putting the disturbing words into the minds of people, we're excited, and a little nervous, about going to see this film.

As mentioned, the Slender Man movie is set to release on May 18, 2018.
