Like I often do, there's a good chance you wonder just how much of pro wrestling is real and what's scripted. We know that those guys take some brutal hits, punches and do extreme damage to their bodies, but what's the maximum they really push it?
And while it has nothing to do with the beating his body takes, wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin did give an answer to a question many of us have probably wondered, too: Did he really drink beer before and after a bout?
"I can’t tell you how many times I left the ring and I had a little bit of a buzz because of all the beers I was drinking. When you’re shotgunning anywhere from six to 12 beers, and maybe you get half of ‘em in. On an empty stomach, after you’ve wrestled, it goes to your head pretty quick."
How awesome is that? The dude actually did celebrate with a cold one after fighting his ass off inside—and, often, outside—the ring.
The Texas Rattlesnake even tried convincing other wrestlers to do the same thing, as he talked about a time with Bill Goldberg.
"There was a couple of times when I got to do a little bit of business with Goldberg and we got to do something after a match. I go out there and I keep tossing Bill beers, and this is back when Bill didn’t really drink beer. He had to drink ‘em to keep up his gimmick because Stone Cold throwing ‘em to him. And I’d always keep shoveling him beers to get him buzzed, basically it was a rib."
Austin even discussed a time he drank 115 beers while in Japan for a Beer Bash, meaning that, in my opinion, Stone Cold Steve Austin might just be the world's best drinker. And that's the bottom line, 'cause Stone Cold said so!
