Now that the Super Nintendo Classic has officially released — after the company made some serious changes to avoid headaches that came with last year's NES Classic release — gamers everywhere are amped about trying to snag one. And, let's be honest, the SNES Mini is a throwback to our childhood, reminding us of all those sleepovers that usually ended with little sleep and lots of video game playing.
Problem is, with the current re-release of the Super Nintendo Mini, we're only able to play the pre-selected 21 games that Nintendo already programmed on it, holding us back from even more games. Fear not, friends, because there may be a solution — assuming you still have those Super Nintendo games cartridges lying around somewhere.
That's because there's a SNES Clone called the Analogue Super Nt that is every gamers' dream come true, capable of playing each and every game ever developed by Nintendo — in high-def, no less. For those unfamiliar with how many that was, it's more than 2,200 titles!
According to Analogue Super Nt's site, here's a quick description of the product:
A reimagining of perhaps the greatest video game system of all time. Engineered with an FPGA. No emulation. 1080p. Zero lag. Total accuracy. The Super Nt is not a plug n' play toy. It is the definitive way to explore Nintendo's 16-bit era. Compatible with the 2,200+ SNES and Super Famicom game cartridge library. Explore and re-live one of the greatest video game systems of all time with no compromises.
A couple other details that are worth noting from Analogue Super Nt's site:
- 1080p with zero lag time
- Wireless, next-gen controllers
- The highest quality digital audio: 48KHz 16 bit stereo. 16 bit music has never sounded better
- Compatibility with original-style cartridges and controller ports
- Various color options, available in Black, Classic, SF and Transparent
While all this sounds amazing, the Analogue Super Nt doesn't necessarily come cheap, carrying a price tag of $500, per its website. But, for those who want to remind themselves of why being a middle school kid and playing Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country and Super Metroid, among others, then the Analogue Super Nt is a great, updated alternative to the old Super Nintendo that you had way back in the day. Dust of those games and go have some fun, fellas!
