The Rocky movies epitomize something different to everyone who has ever watched them. Some see the flicks as the ultimate underdog story—both in cinema and in real-life, as actor/writer Sylvester Stallone earned an Academy Award for "Best Picture" in 1976 after shooting the film on a $1 million budget in just 28 days.

With the film's 40th anniversary of its release date upcoming on November 21st, Stallone has dropped some behind-the-scenes footage from the first installment that is pretty awesome.

Here's what Stallone wrote in the caption of the video, which was posted onto his Instagram account the other day.

This is a very special moment. The last day . I did not know the camera was running and I was sad thinking this was the last time I would ever get to play this wonderful caracter.

Minus the misspelling, the message was clear—at the time, Stallone was a nobody actor, just hoping that the story of Rocky Balboa would be his breakthrough. Little did he know it would go on to earn such acclaim, with him playing the role in six additional installments of the movie, with the role defining his legacy.

This isn't the first time Stallone has teased fans with behind-the-scenes photos from Rocky, as he did so last month by posting several photos from the set that had never before been seen.

Even 40 years later, the story of Sylvester Stallone's Rocky Balboa lives on, so it's awesome to see him embrace the character that got him to the place he always wanted to be in.
