For years, women have claimed to be more attracted to funny guys over the suave, shallow, caring-too-much type. And while we all may call B.S. on that, new research shows that it may be very true—and for an unexpected reason.
That's because psychologists actually believe that having a good sense of humor can attribute to a better orgasm, no joke. If true, it's only natural for women to want to hang out with the guy who's making her crack up—and then moan—over any other type of guy.
Thanks to research published in the journal Socioaffective Neuroscience & Psychology—which surveyed 103 women about traits of partners with whom they had the easiest time of getting off with—the biggest winners were those men with, you guessed it, lot of humor, which led to higher orgasms for those ladies.
Overall, women reported variation in their orgasm rates with different partners. Partners who induced high-orgasm rates were rated as more humorous, creative, warm, faithful, and better smelling than partners who induced low-orgasm rates, and also engaged in greater efforts to induce partner orgasm.
Oh, but it gets even better for you goofballs out there, because, in a 2014 study published in the journal Evolutionary Psychology, women with a more humorous partner had more sex, too, with the lady more likely to initiate the romp sesh.
Sure, being funny isn't the only trait that women look for in a guy—I mean, they do want someone who they can imagine starting a family with, most of the time. But in that same 2014 study, women associated men who were funnier with being more intelligent, popular and creative, too, so, in essence, a lot more charming than the average Joe.
So while there are some women who will always flock to the more shallow guy who only cares about money and is more serious, it's the funny guys who have the more desirable sexual traits that most women look for.
