Am I the only person who refuses to see the VW microbus as anything other than a means of having sex and smoking pot on wheels? I mean, perhaps I've seen too many movies based in the late 60s/early 70s, but for real — that thing will never be more than that to me. That being said, I'd 100% like to own one. Who wouldn't?! It's a classic piece of Americana with a modern flair. Even with that dull yellow paint, it's a lady-killer — now that I think about it, the VW bus was a pretty common ride among The Manson Family. I'd like to retract my lady-killer euphemism. Moving on, according to Forbes:
"It'll be one of many new electric models VW is set to introduce as it shifts its focus away from diesel engines, following a damaging scandal in which it admitted using software to cheat government emissions regulations. VW's North American CEO, Hinrich J. Woebcken, called the I.D. BUZZ "the perfect balance between emotion, usability and sustainability, while also showcasing our technological leadership. The high seating position, cargo capacity, overall versatility and all-wheel drive option packaged into such an appealing design is just what our customers want from us. And it’s the perfect fit for the zero-emissions American lifestyle.”
It's electric?! Even better. Despite what you, "I don't give a crap about the environment" folks may think, it's definitely important to consider an electric vehicle. If nothing else, you'll be doing a very-small part in a large, potentially deadly issue. Nothing wrong with that, amirite?
