Given that watching Netflix has become one of the most popular pastimes of modern day, it's a hard to imagine a time when the beloved streaming service didn't exist. That said, it's almost a good thing that Netflix wasn't a thing back in the 90s. Can you imagine binge-watching an entire series using F'in dial-up? The second your mom got on the phone, there goes your show. Oh, man, we shudder at the very thought.
In the video below posted to YouTube by Squirrel Monkey you'll get a glimpse at exactly what Netflix in 1995 would have been like. Fair warning, the video watches like a late-night informercial — it's both awesome and infuriating.
See what we're saying, guys? Even if Netflix did exist back then, we sincerely doubt we would have used it. Although, the fact a subscription came with a free bag of microwaved popcorn and poster? That's pretty damn enticing. All jokes aside, this video is definitive proof that the technological strides society has made, particularly with the Internet, are life-changing.
So, the next time you want to throw your $1,500 MacBook Pro out the window because Netflix isn't loading "fast enough", maybe you should go ahead and cue up this video. It'll be a stark reminder of just how bad things could be. Seriously, you can wait 30 seconds for The Office to load, it's better than 11 hours and 30 minutes, right?
Oh, man, we're shuddering at the very thought again. We're off to steam six movies at once, just because we can.
