Less than two weeks following the mass-shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, reports confirm that a man was shot and killed while on Facebook Live today in Wingate, North Carolina. The incident took place on Jerome Street, right outside of Wingate University. Around 11:20 AM Eastern Standard Time, both Wingate University and Wingate Elementary were on lockdown, according to WSOCTV on Twitter.

Since, the lockdown bans have been lifted, despite no arrests being made. Wingate University's official Twitter account kept students and faculty informed every step of the way; relaying suspect information, reports from law enforcement and most importantly, lockdown procedure. It's clear that their main goal was to keep everyone safe and secure. In conjunction with local law enforcement, they succeeded.

Some students have expressed gratitude at the level of communication, while others are still baffled as to why the lockdown has been lifted.

As for the victim, police have confirmed that when officers arrived they found a man in his 50s, now identified as Prentis Robinson, laying face down with several gun shot wounds. He was pronounced dead on scene. According to the NY Daily News, the victim was walking and carrying a selfie stick when a man attacked him. Four shots were fired.

Union County Sheriff Public Information Officer, Tony Underwood confirmed that the video was posted on a page for Atlanta-based musician, Prentis Robinson. Still images of the video can be seen, here.
